Girls on the Run!

Research shows that more than overeating, inactivity may be the key factor that leads to obesity in girls.

If you are wondering how to get your favorite girl off the couch – let us introduce you to Girls on the Run!

Girls on the Run of Central Virginia is a life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade which combines training for a 5k running event with healthy living education. The mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. The goal is “to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.”

Girls on the Run programs instill self-esteem through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training – all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.  Girls on the Run of Central Virginia is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International which has a network of 190 locations across the United States and Canada.  Find out if your school has a team by clicking HERE!The Fall 2013 Season begins the week of September 3rd.  Go here to register your girl!
