Geocaching

The first geocache in Lynchburg is down on Percival’s Island. Go check it out and then post your success on the Piedmont Virginia Geocaching Association Facebook page.

Geocaching is a high tech game of hide and seek in the great outdoors where participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device to find a “cache.”  Commonly, a cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook for the geocacher to enter the date and sign a code name. Larger containers may have small items for trading, usually toys or trinkets.  Get involved in the search – and get lots of exercise too!
