Fitness Challenges

Welcome to Fitness Challenges – a friendly way-station on the trail to fitness through Live Healthy Lynchburg.  Our challenges are designed for everyone—to motivate, encourage and inspire you to find what lies beyond. You don’t have to be a stick figure runner, an exercise beast or even a weekend warrior—we want you just the way you are.  So join us … there’s a challenge waiting for you.

Our partners at Prototype have delivered a slick new online tool—The Challenge—for practically effortless entry and tracking of daily activity for all of our challenges. The Challenge website features a clean, intuitive design, with a drop down menu of eligible activities. No excuses. We’ve made it really easy.

Strive for 5 Challenge

Strive for 5 is designed to encourage participants “get in 30” minutes of a wide variety of activities on as many days as possible between April 7, 2014 and June 15, 2014. There are virtually no restrictions on eligible activity—if it gets you moving, raises your heartbeat and tickles your spirit, it counts.  Strive for 5 is open to those who live in or work for an organization located in Region 2000 (Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, Lynchburg).    Registration opens on Thursday, April 3. Strive for 5 officially starts on April 7 and runs through June 15.  On April 7, participants may begin recording activity in the online tool for the 10-week period running April 7 through June 15.

Participation:  As an individual or as part of an organization.

100 Mile Challenge
The 100 Mile challenge is an exciting way to take your running and walking to a new level. The challenge is to run or walk 100 miles between July 1 and September 27 … that’s just slightly over 1 mile per day! It’s an exciting way to integrate exercise and fitness as part of an overall healthier lifestyle, and encourage and grow participation in the Virginia 4 Miler and 10 Miler races.

Participation              As an individual or as part of an organization.

Eligible miles:

  1. Miles run or walked outside of normal business activity.
  2. Miles run or walked without the aid of mechanical devices or machines, i.e., elliptical machines, bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller blades / skates do NOT count. The only exception: miles logged on a treadmill are eligible miles.
